Over the coming months, Limestone staff will be reviewing and updating course outlines, assessment practices, and supporting resources to ensure alignment with the new provincial requirements.The Food Sharing Project UpdateDuring the 2025-2026 school year, The Food Sharing Project supported every LDSB school by providing nutritious food and resources to students each day. On average, more than 14,000 meals and snacks were served each week, over 530,000 throughout the year, with weekly food orders reaching approximately $17,500.We are grateful to the dedicated staff who make these programs possible, and to The Food Sharing Project for continuing to support student well-being across LDSB. This support is increasingly important as many families continue to face food insecurity. Or something similar. The school will cover supplies and we are hoping to mount it to keep as a mural. Board of Trustees Approves 2026–2027 School Year Budget

At its regular meeting on June 17, 2026, the Limestone District School Board of Trustees approved a $340.5 million budget for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a good time to celebrate everything you have accomplished over the past several months. You worked hard, took on challenges, learned new things and continued to grow. You should be proud of all you have achieved this year.As you begin your summer break, take time to rest, explore your interests, and enjoy time with family and friends. However you choose to spend your summer, I hope you make the most of the months ahead.To the graduating Class of 2026, congratulations on reaching this important milestone. Graduation marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Whether your next step is college, university, an apprenticeship, the workforce or another pathway, I wish you every success in the years ahead.As families look ahead to September and the start of a new school year, there are a few things to keep in mind. Ontario schools will continue to focus on helping students build strong foundations in reading, writing and math while preparing them for success beyond the classroom. Students in elementary schools will learn from the same core materials and benefit from a revised Kindergarten curriculum focused on foundational literacy, math and science skills. In Grade 7 and 8, updated History courses will include new mandatory content on the history of Black Canadians.In high schools, students in Grade 10 History will have new learning about Black history, the Holocaust and Holodomor. Or something similar. The school will cover supplies and we are hoping to mount it to keep as a mural. Library volunteers have been incredibly impressed by the outstanding effort students have made in returning library books before the summer break. This past week alone, 233 books were returned to the library. What an amazing accomplishment!There are still 113 books currently checked out, so let's keep up the great work and continue returning books to help us prepare for the end of the school year.Not sure if your student has a library book checked out? Pride Month Recognition in Limestone

The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) Education Centre, along with schools across the district, is recognizing Pride Month in the KFL&A region by flying the Progress Pride Flag for the remainder of the school year.The Government of Canada notes that the manner in which the Canadian flag is displayed is not governed by legislation. The guidelines provided are not mandatory for individuals or organizations but are intended to offer general direction.After consultation and clarification from Heritage Canada and communication with trustees, LDSB schools with only one flagpole will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag for the balance of this school year.  Limestone’s goal will be to increase the number of schools with more than one flagpole and/or the addition of yardarms to existing flagpoles to display more than the Canadian flag. Until this goal is achieved, we will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag at sites with only one flagpole.Displaying the Progress Pride Flag is a way for LDSB to show support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. This recognition does not diminish our respect for Canada’s national flag; rather, it reflects our commitment to ensuring that all students, staff, and families feel welcomed, valued, and respected in Limestone schools.Flying the Progress Pride Flag is one example of how LDSB demonstrates its inclusive culture. As a publicly funded school board, we have both a legal and moral responsibility to create learning environments where everyone can see themselves reflected and feel a sense of belonging.

Spring Fling Thank You! What an incredible event! We want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible work of our School Council. Planning an event of this size and caliber is no easy feat. Every detail was well thought out and organized - basket and silent auction, bake sale, food, games, prizes, inflatables, entertainment. We also appreciate all of the support from our community. It was truly wonderful to see families and kiddos running around, laughing and enjoying. This means that the events will be visible but families may not be able to approve or pay for trips. Please be patient. We promise it is only temporary!The Quiet Space Art Space club is looking for help to make a frame for their mural We are looking for someone who could build a shallow-frame wooden box that will hold the mural + backing (perhaps Coroplast -corrugated plastic) + 2 side-by-side sheets of plexiglass. Or something similar. The school will cover supplies and we are hoping to mount it to keep as a mural.It is tempera paint on paper and measures 224 cm long x 220 cm wide. Please reach out to Mme Doherty (dohertyf@limestone.on.ca) if you are able to help us. We are very proud of our Hawks for their Track and Field performance at Regionals and for their effort and sportsmanship!  Henderson had 67 top 8 finishes and a new meet record set by Emmitt D!
