2026/27 JR Henderson Weekly Update #7
Friday, October 9th, 2026
Hello Henderson Families,
Happy eve of the long weekend! Temperatures sure dipped this week and the leaves are dropping quickly. Fall vibes are in full effect.
With the Monday holiday upon us, we hope all Hawks and families have a moment to unwind and enjoy this long weekend!
Public Holiday Monday
As a reminder, Monday is Thanksgiving Day and all schools are closed. We look forward to seeing all Hawks back on Tuesday October 13th.
Friendly Office Reminders
There is no need to call the office to report if you are picking your child up early, as students are called down until a parent/guardian has arrived.
When calling the office, if you reach the voicemail, please leave a message. We check the voicemail regularly throughout the day.
Spooky Festivities are Coming!
We are delighted to announce our upcoming Spooky Week festivities timetable.

Quiet Space/Art Space
Our school group Quiet Space/Art Space began this week during 2nd lunch and recess on Wednesday. About 50 students joined us, and the event was heart-warming. The entire group was absolutely quiet and active in their art. Non-verbal communication, including hand and facial gestures, were seen throughout as we communicated with each other silently. The room was peaceful and active. Quiet-Space/Art-Space is run by Mme Doherty and Mme Chamberlain for grades 4-8.
Choir is back!
Our Henderson Hawks Choir is back this Fall. Students in Grades 1-8 are invited to participate each Wednesday at 2nd Nutrition/Recess Break. M Higginson, Ms. Raike, Mme Sedore, Mme O'Brien & Mme Chamberlain are coordinating. No experience necessary and new members always welcome! If you are interested in helping as a piano accompanist, please email M Higginson higginsonm@limestone.on.ca
Hot Lunch Reminder
This year, we have Subs on Tuesdays and Pizza on Thursdays. Go to https://www.lunchboxorders.net Your login and password would be the same if you participated last year, or go ahead and create one if you didn't. You will have to create your student again and match them to their new teacher.
Orders are due Sunday at noon for the following week.
If buses are cancelled because of the weather, hot lunch will be cancelled as well. Questions, email Mark- jrhschoolcouncil@gmail.com
Information from Public Health
Please see information from Southeast Public Health, below. We are always impressed by our Hawk Walkers and look forward to seeing more families take on this October challenge.
School Council Updates
Our first Council Meeting occurred on Wednesday September 16th. It was great to see new and returning faces!
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday October 14th from 6-8pm. As always, new members are welcome, and childcare is provided.
Have a great weekend, Hawks!
