We have many updates as we cruise into the single digits of this academic year. Mural Update We are delighted that, after many months of discussions, planning and preparation, the mural that was a joint effort between JR Henderson and Frontenac Secondary School is now completed! This year, we have educational resources and activities to bring forward the importance of acceptance, love and appreciation for all. June 16th Presentations to Classes   Mme Doherty, our Grade 1 teacher, will present to grades 4-8 showing films and facilitating a discussion. Mme Doherty is a film producer and her creativity radiates through her work. Students will view these short films and have the chance to ask questions about her artistic journey. Students can dress in beach-themed clothing—think sunglasses, hats, and tropical vibes! </li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">Wednesday, June 24 – Rainbow Day 🌈  Brighten up the day by wearing your favourite colour or as many colours as you can! </li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem">Thursday, June 25 – Canada Day ❤️🤍  Let’s celebrate together by wearing red and white or your favourite Canada-themed clothing.</li></ul></td></tr></tbody></table>The Quiet Space Art Space club is looking for help to make a frame for their mural We are still looking for someone who could build a shallow-frame wooden box that will hold the mural + backing (perhaps Coroplast -corrugated plastic) + 2 side-by-side sheets of plexiglass. Or something similar. The school will cover supplies and we are hoping to mount it to keep as a mural. It is tempera paint on paper and measures 224 cm long x 220 cm wide. Please reach out to Mme Doherty (dohertyf@limestone.on.ca) if you are able to help us. Thank you. Library Book Update! Wow, Hawks! Library volunteers have been incredibly impressed by the outstanding effort students have made in returning library books before the summer break. This past week alone, 233 books were returned to the library. What an amazing accomplishment!There are still 113 books currently checked out, so let's keep up the great work and continue returning books to help us prepare for the end of the school year.Not sure if your student has a library book checked out? Reminder notices will be distributed to students early next week.<img src="/images/b898b402-c764-4612-b014-cd7caa714451?fingerprint=ppb20260611203848" alt="poster" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block">Ultimate Frisbee Update Coach Barkley and Coach LaFrance were delighted with the Henderson Hawks' performance at Thursday's Ultimate Frisbee tournament. Students had been practicing for weeks, learning frisbee drills and sportsmanship. This clearly show! Our Grade 2 class with M. Leger has been hard at work on the back garden boxes. As well, our Eco Committee has been adding to the front garden and beautifying the school. Spring Fling Thank You! What an incredible event! We want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible work of our School Council. Planning an event of this size and caliber is no easy feat. Every detail was well thought out and organized - basket and silent auction, bake sale, food, games, prizes, inflatables, entertainment. We also appreciate all of the support from our community. It was truly wonderful to see families and kiddos running around, laughing and enjoying. This means that the events will be visible but families may not be able to approve or pay for trips. Please be patient. We promise it is only temporary!The Quiet Space Art Space club is looking for help to make a frame for their mural We are looking for someone who could build a shallow-frame wooden box that will hold the mural + backing (perhaps Coroplast -corrugated plastic) + 2 side-by-side sheets of plexiglass. Or something similar. The school will cover supplies and we are hoping to mount it to keep as a mural.It is tempera paint on paper and measures 224 cm long x 220 cm wide. Please reach out to Mme Doherty (dohertyf@limestone.on.ca) if you are able to help us. We are very proud of our Hawks for their Track and Field performance at Regionals and for their effort and sportsmanship!  Henderson had 67 top 8 finishes and a new meet record set by Emmitt D! Pride Month Recognition in Limestone

The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) Education Centre, along with schools across the district, is recognizing Pride Month in the KFL&A region by flying the Progress Pride Flag for the remainder of the school year.The Government of Canada notes that the manner in which the Canadian flag is displayed is not governed by legislation. The guidelines provided are not mandatory for individuals or organizations but are intended to offer general direction.After consultation and clarification from Heritage Canada and communication with trustees, LDSB schools with only one flagpole will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag for the balance of this school year.  Limestone’s goal will be to increase the number of schools with more than one flagpole and/or the addition of yardarms to existing flagpoles to display more than the Canadian flag. Until this goal is achieved, we will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag at sites with only one flagpole.Displaying the Progress Pride Flag is a way for LDSB to show support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. This recognition does not diminish our respect for Canada’s national flag; rather, it reflects our commitment to ensuring that all students, staff, and families feel welcomed, valued, and respected in Limestone schools.Flying the Progress Pride Flag is one example of how LDSB demonstrates its inclusive culture. As a publicly funded school board, we have both a legal and moral responsibility to create learning environments where everyone can see themselves reflected and feel a sense of belonging.

<h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Technical Advisory Group (TAG) is Seeking Expression of Interest</h2>The Limestone District School Board is seeking expressions of interest from <a href="about:blank" class="editor-link">individuals</a><a href="#_msocom_1" class="editor-link">[EL1]</a>  interested in joining the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) in support of the ongoing Student Census 2025 project.The purpose of the Technical Advisory Group is to provide advice, perspectives, and recommendations related to the design of data collection methods, analysis, and the representation of results for LDSB’s Student Census.
