As we cruise into this 3-day weekend, the weather looks delightful and spring is springing! We had Hawks learning both indoors and outdoors this week and we have lots of updates to share. Enjoy!Long Weekend Reminder As a reminder, Monday May 18th is a public holiday and the school will be closed. See you on Tuesday!Garden Volunteers With the sunny spring here, we would LOVE to have a few volunteers help weed and tidy the front garden. Our Eco Committee is starting a lunch time weeding for parents/guardians - rain or shine! Bring your own gloves and weeders :-) May 25th from 12pm to 1pm June 8th from 12pm to 1pm <img src="/images/b1db1870-fece-423c-a7be-fa4cd417e8a0?fingerprint=ppb20260515001412" alt="IMG 4879" width="331" height="248" style="width:331px;height:248px;display:inline-block">Class Placements Our team ensures that exceptional care and thought are put into every student's class placement. This process involves months of observation and understanding about academic and social learning. In June, all staff get together and add insight into each child's placement, including academics, peer groups, dynamics, etc. Should parents/guardians have information they feel is key when placing their child, they are invited to submit remarks or requests to brennanka@limestone.on.ca. While requests are not guaranteed, we may use information from families to support decision making. The deadline for submitting a class placement request is Friday May 29th.<img src="/images/030c7f50-651a-46b6-abff-03e791fb4d4a?fingerprint=ppb20260514200403" alt="IMG 9566" width="367" height="489" style="width:367px;height:489px;display:inline-block">Spring Fling is Coming! If you're a seasoned Hawk, you may know that this event is one to attend! Our School Council requires the support from our community to make this amazing event happen.Bake Sale We are looking for donations for our bake sale! If you are able to contribute, baked goods can be dropped off at the school gym doors between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. To help with serving and safety, we kindly ask that items be individually wrapped whenever possible. If drop-off is a challenge, volunteer pick-up may be arranged. Each day, our Belong and Believe Club made daily announcements, discussing the importance of bringing mental health to the forefront of daily conversations. We also invited all Hawks to an assembly to learn, discuss, grow and laugh. This process involves months of observation and understanding about academic and social learning. In June, all staff get together and add insight into each child's placement, including academics, peer groups, dynamics, etc. Should parents/guardians have information they feel is key when placing their child, they are invited to submit remarks or requests to brennanka@limestone.on.ca. While requests are not guaranteed, we may use information from families to support decision making. The deadline for submitting a class placement request is Friday May 29th.Track and Field Day What a day! The weather cooperated and students had a blast participating in a variety of fun outdoor athletic activities. During this week, our Belong and Believe students will help spread awareness about mental health and the importance of feeling connected, included, and supported at school.This year’s national theme is “Come Together, Canada – Stronger Connections. Limestone Students Shine at the 2026 Ontario Skills Competition

Limestone District School Board students showcased their outstanding skills and talent at the 2026 Skills Ontario Competition, held in Toronto on May 4 and 5, 2026.The Skills Ontario Competition offers a unique opportunity for top students from across the province to demonstrate that they are truly the best in their field. Over two and a half days, competitors impress educators, family members, friends, and potential employers through hands-on, real‑world challenges. This survey gives families an opportunity to share their experiences with their student’s school and with the school board.The feedback helps us understand what is working well and where we can improve. Dear Families,As we enter the spring season and final third of the school year, we are reminded of this season’s promise of renewal and growth, and the key role schools and families have together in supporting student learning and well-being. Day – Friday, April 17A reminder to families that tomorrow, Friday, April 17, is a P.A. Day. There will be no classes for students, and we look forward to welcoming them back to school on Monday.Family Engagement and Climate Survey – Coming in MayIn early May, Limestone will be inviting families to take part in a Family Engagement and Climate Survey. The optional survey is anonymous, and families can choose which questions they want to answer.The survey asks about topics such as feeling connected to school, family involvement, safety and bullying, communication, before- and after-school programming, and how technology like artificial intelligence is used in schools.The feedback shared through this survey helps schools and the school board understand what is working well, what could improve, and what may make it harder for some families to take part. The findings support planning and decision-making that promotes equity, well being, and student success across Limestone schools. An overview of the Student Census 2025 was presented to the Board of Trustees at last night’s board meeting.
