JR Henderson Weekly Update #13 - November 28th, 2025
Good afternoon Henderson Families,
As we cruise into December, we have a lot to celebrate. The kindness and work ethic of Hawks continue to impress! With our food drive starting next week, the attendance draw happening next Friday and some tremendous sportsmanship at volleyball, we have many opportunities to celebrate the achievements of our students.
Jingle Bell Food Drive & Walk, Run or Wheel
Our Jingle Bell Food Drive & Walk, Run or Wheel is coming up! On Friday December 5th, all Henderson students will be getting some extra physical activity and walking around the neighborhood, wearing bells and jingling all the way.
In honour of this fun event, starting Monday December 1st, we are also collecting new, canned or sealed, pre-packaged, food items that will be donated to the Partners in Mission Food Bank. Please double check the expiry date on all products to ensure that items donated are not past the best before date for consumption. Classes will keep a tally and see who can raise the most for people in need. Furthermore, families wishing to donate money directly to the Food Bank can do so here: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/11240
Parents Night Out!
School council is once again offering to host your children on a Friday evening, Dec. 12, so you can have some free time or some shopping time, whatever you choose! Please see information in the poster attached and use this link to register your child(ren). https://forms.gle/9mcKp2hPB95phVH29
Winter Fundraiser
This year we have once again partnered with Cocoa Bistro, a locally owned and operated business, for our winter fundraiser. Proceeds from the sales through their online portal will be given back to the school community. Enjoy a sweet treat or spread the love to others while also supporting our Hawks! The fundraiser opens on November 24th and the last day to order will be December 10th. Order through the website https://cocoabistro.ca and select "levé de fonds JR Henderson Fundraiser" at the checkout. Goodies will be delivered to Henderson on December 16th. We will send the treats home with the students or hold them for pick up should you wish. Happy shopping!
Go Hawks, go!
It was a busy week of volleyball and we are so proud of our Hawks. Congratulations go out to the intermediate boys’ volleyball team who won all their round robin games, and just narrowly lost in their second set of the semifinal match.
Our Girls intermediate volleyball tied 3 and lost 2 games. We are so proud of them for representing Henderson! What a great season.
Last Chance - TONIGHT is Movie Night:
Last night was a huge success and it was great to see so many families relaxing and enjoying the movie. We are BEYOND grateful to our School Council who make these such fun and organized events. Thank you!
Tonight is the final night for our fall Movie Night. The film tonight is Minecraft.
The movie starts at 6pm in the Gym. Doors open at 5:30. Bring pillows, PJs, cushions, whatever you need to feel comfy. Admission is free with no need to RSVP. No pizza for sale, however a snack canteen will have many inexpensive things for purchase including drinks, chips, popcorn.
Choices at 7
It's already that time of the year. Families interested in Choices at 7 should see here and reach out to admin with any questions.
Toevember
What a success, Hawks! We are beyond grateful for the generosity of the community. Today, we celebrated this achievement by wearing silly socks and doing a sock raffle. Seven lucky Hawks took home a cozy pair of socks.
French Fridays!
French Fridays roll on! We are encouraging all Hawks to engage in as much French as possible on Fridays. We are extending this to parents/guardians and staff too. Not great at French? That's okay - have fun with it and try your best :)
