JR Henderson Weekly Update #15 - December 12th, 2025
Good afternoon Henderson Families,
Happy Friday! As we head into the final days before the holiday break, our halls are buzzing with energy and excitement! While festive anticipation is in the air, the spirit of learning remains strong—students are engaged, curious, and eager to finish the calendar year on a high note. It’s a joyful time where hard work and holiday cheer go hand in hand.
Lost and Found
For the Curricular Evening and both Movie Nights, we displayed lost and found items; much of which was collected. We continue to display the lost and found items by the gym. We will leave these items until Thursday, at which date they will be donated. If you are interested in viewing the items, please come to the office.
December Spirit
Today, we had a whole-school Kahoot. Throughout the next week, we have some exciting spirit initiatives planned. O Here's the final week's events:
- Mon Dec 15 : Silver, gold, and sparkle—shine brighter than tinsel!
- Tues Dec 16: Blue and Purple Borealis - glow like the northern lights!
- Wed Dec 17: Green and Red — like the Grinch's Fur and Rudolf's nose!
- Thurs Dec 18: Candy cane stripes—sweet and stylish!
- Fri Dec 19: PJ Day—because even elves love cozy mornings!
EQAO - a lot to celebrate!
In case you missed it last Wednesday, EQAO results were made public by the Ministry of Education. Here at Henderson, we have a lot to celebrate! The improvement over the past several years is incredible. Our teachers and staff have supported excellent progress, helping a greater number of students reach expected level.

This data can also be viewed online. Individual student results will be shared with respective families when we are able.
Upcoming Dental Screening
On January 13th and 14, dental screening will occur at JR Henderson for JK, SK and Grade 2 students. Dental screening involves a quick look inside the mouths of students in Junior and Senior Kindergarten, and Grade 2 as well as some students identified as having a dental problem in previous years. A no-touch technique is used where the hands of the dental hygienist do not touch the child’s mouth. A new sterile mirror is used for each student.
French Fridays!
French Fridays roll on! We are encouraging all Hawks to engage in as much French as possible on Fridays. We are extending this to parents/guardians and staff too. Not great at French? That's okay - have fun with it and try your best :)
Hot Lunch Reminder
As a reminder, if you haven't yet, be sure to order hot lunch through https://www.lunchboxorders.net. We are offering subs on Tuesdays and pizza on Thursdays. Money raised from hot lunch goes directly back into our school community to support athletics, learning materials, student initiatives and more. Orders are due Sunday at noon for the following week. Finally, if buses are cancelled because of the weather, hot lunch will be cancelled as well. If you have questions, please email jrhschoolcouncil@gmail.com
School Council
The next School Council meeting is on Wednesday January 28th from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. Free childcare will be available. Don’t forget - here’s the School Council email address: JRHSchoolCouncil@gmail.com School Council looks forward to hearing feedback and voices from all Henderson community members. Finally, School Council minutes can be found here.
Have a great weekend, Hawks!
