Spring Fling Thank You! What an incredible event! We want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible work of our School Council. Planning an event of this size and caliber is no easy feat. Every detail was well thought out and organized - basket and silent auction, bake sale, food, games, prizes, inflatables, entertainment. We also appreciate all of the support from our community. It was truly wonderful to see families and kiddos running around, laughing and enjoying. Students can dress in beach-themed clothing—think sunglasses, hats, and tropical vibes! </li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">Wednesday, June 24 – Rainbow Day 🌈  Brighten up the day by wearing your favourite colour or as many colours as you can! </li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem">Thursday, June 25 – Canada Day ❤️🤍  Let’s celebrate together by wearing red and white or your favourite Canada-themed clothing. </li></ul></td></tr></tbody></table>School Day Maintenance Window ITS has informed us that this weekend, School Day is undergoing routine maintenance. This means that the events will be visible but families may not be able to approve or pay for trips. Please be patient. We promise it is only temporary!The Quiet Space Art Space club is looking for help to make a frame for their mural We are looking for someone who could build a shallow-frame wooden box that will hold the mural + backing (perhaps Coroplast -corrugated plastic) + 2 side-by-side sheets of plexiglass. Or something similar. The school will cover supplies and we are hoping to mount it to keep as a mural.It is tempera paint on paper and measures 224 cm long x 220 cm wide. Please reach out to Mme Doherty (dohertyf@limestone.on.ca) if you are able to help us. Thank you!Track and Field Wins! We are very proud of our Hawks for their Track and Field performance at Regionals and for their effort and sportsmanship!  Henderson had 67 top 8 finishes and a new meet record set by Emmitt D! It will take place in our Staff Room on Wednesday June 17th from 8:30am until 9:15am. We will have breakfast items, snacks, coffee, tea and best of all, great company! Queen's University is offering virtual learning sessions to provide parents:·      information and support to understand their child’s experience and potential more fully·      skills to navigate the school system·      ability to provide timely and targeted support·      support to know they are not aloneThere is no cost to the program, however parents must commit to attending both sessions. These sessions will run on Tuesday August 11 and Wednesday August 12th from 9:00am to 12:30pm (EDT). Students have done an amazing job reading this year, borrowing an astounding 7,000+ books from the library. Let’s work together in June to return all outstanding library books so we can wrap up another great year of reading!Garden Volunteers With the sunny spring here, we would LOVE to have a few volunteers help weed and tidy the front garden. Our Eco Committee is starting a lunch time weeding for parents/guardians - rain or shine! The excitement of Spring Fling brought a lot of delight and energy to Henderson. The baskets looked amazing and the bake sale items being donated today were mouth-watering. Our grade 3 and grade 6 students will spend a few periods in class over the next two weeks, taking part in the Ministry mandated EQAO assessments. Teachers have been diligent in teaching the curriculum through meaningful and explicit practice to build student growth and understanding in all topics related to Literacy and Math. We are confident that our students are always well prepared at Henderson to undertake these assessments. Our grade 3 and grade 6 students will spend a few periods in class over the next two weeks, taking part in the Ministry mandated EQAO assessments. Teachers have been diligent in teaching the curriculum through meaningful and explicit practice to build student growth and understanding in all topics related to Literacy and Math. We are confident that our students are always well prepared at Henderson to undertake these assessments. Please note that EQAO will not be scheduled for Monday, June 1st as it is Ontario Day. Class Placements Our team ensures that exceptional care and thought are put into every student's class placement. This process involves months of observation and understanding about academic and social learning. In June, all staff get together and add insight into each child's placement, including academics, peer groups, dynamics, etc. Should parents/guardians have information they feel is key when placing their child, they are invited to submit remarks or requests to brennanka@limestone.on.ca. While requests are not guaranteed, we may use information from families to support decision making. The deadline for submitting a class placement request is Friday May 29th.Spring Fling is Coming! If you're a seasoned Hawk, you may know that this event is one to attend! Our School Council requires the support from our community to make this amazing event happen.Bake Sale We are looking for donations for our bake sale! Welcome to James R. Henderson Public School, a dual-track school located in the west end of Kingston. We offer programming in English from Kindergarten to Grade 8 and French Immersion for students in Kindergarten to Grade 6. <h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Technical Advisory Group (TAG) is Seeking Expression of Interest</h2>The Limestone District School Board is seeking expressions of interest from <a href="about:blank" class="editor-link">individuals</a><a href="#_msocom_1" class="editor-link">[EL1]</a>  interested in joining the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) in support of the ongoing Student Census 2025 project.The purpose of the Technical Advisory Group is to provide advice, perspectives, and recommendations related to the design of data collection methods, analysis, and the representation of results for LDSB’s Student Census. TAG plays a critical role in ensuring that multiple and diverse perspectives are applied to the interpretation of data, helping to minimize bias and strengthen the relevance and integrity of findings.We are seeking expressions of interest for the committee for the September 2026 to August 2028 term.  We welcome expressions of interest from all members of the Limestone community, including those who can help us fill the following vacancies:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">One to two parents of a Limestone student(s) who is not an employee of the LDSB</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">A Limestone school administrator</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">One or more Limestone secondary students</li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem">One community partner member who works alongside LDSB</li></ul>Experience in data collection, analysis, and/or reporting of identity‑based data is encouraged; however, individuals with a broad range of research or analysis backgrounds and/or lived experiences are encouraged to apply.
